Prayer Initiative

Update: February 3rd 2015

If you missed the Benefice service on 1st February at Cherhill, a copy of the questionnaire can be downloaded from here in Microsoft Word (docx) format, or here in PDF format.

Update: January 2015

Dear All

Following on from our Vision evening last year, we as a Benefice are focusing our thoughts on PRAYER.

We have compiled a questionnaire which we would like as many people as possible to complete, in order to get a feel of where people are in their prayer life and what they would like to see, to improve prayer for themselves and the Benefice.

We would encourage you to complete the Questionnaire, which will be distributed at the Benefice service on 1st February at Cherhill; in church services the following week and to everyone else on the Electoral Rolls, so you can all have your ‘say’.

We would ask for them to be returned the following week to your own churches, to the Benefice Office in Heddington, or 10 Home Farm Close, Heddington, (or we can collect if there is a problem with getting them back, please just get in touch).  We would ask that all completed questionnaires are back with us by 15th February 2015.

Once we have your feedback we can look forward to enhancing our prayer life individually and as a Benefice as well as keeping our long held and well-loved traditional ways of praying.

Every blessing,

Rev Linda Dytham    01380 859571

‘Resource’ is an organisation that works for the renewal of people and churches for mission in the power of the Holy Spirit – across all traditions, and at our last Benefice Council Meeting, Roger Morgan , a facilitator from ‘Resource’ helped us look at our ‘Vision’ for the Benefice.

The overwhelming priority that came out of that meeting was PRAYER

…and so because of this I am inviting you all to help me look at ways in which God wants us to move forward in our prayer life both as individuals and as a Benefice.

I would very much like your thoughts, ideas, needs, experiences, answers to prayer which might help us to begin to look at new ways forward for prayer in the Oldbury Benefice.

It is my belief that some of the most effective prayer takes place when God’s people come together.

“For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them”       Mathew 18:20

  • Are you passionate about prayer?
  • Do you want to deepen your prayer life?
  • Do you want to learn more about different ways of praying?
  • Would you like to be involved in a small working group that could move prayer forward?
  • Please talk about prayer with one another, your neighbours and friends to find out what they think about prayer – they don’t have to be churchgoers….

Then please get in touch with me with your thoughts. I would like us to come up with 2 or 3 concrete ideas by the end of January for the Benefice Council to consider and put into action.

…the prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.   James 5:16
